I Heart Technology.

Sister in Texas has bought her own laptop at last! She was sharing her family's computers all this time and no one was happy to share their comps so we ended up talking on the phone most of the time.

Today morning when I called her, she asked me to come online and she showed me her new nails, and (a Leo that she is), also how she styles her hair, which she has cut much shorter.

We walked around our houses with our laptops (with the web cams on) in our hands, and realised our daughters have similar looking messy rooms. Boys rooms are neat! Watching my niece objecting to her room being given bad press that too LIVE was great ... I was safe because my kids were at school ;)

She made me see a painting I had made in school and she has it in her living room. It had been in her living room in India also, but she burst into tears after making a huge surprise out of it being on a wall in a house in a land she did not even know existed as a kid.

I showed her sunlight streaming into our bedrooms, it was night there, I saw the darkness in their porch ... and now - in the afternoon here, when she wakes up in the morning there, we will be back online. I want to see the morning sunlight in her kitchen.

Isn't technology wonderful!!!!!

Solilo You heart technology too :)

Iya Shopping and hair cuts are the most exciting part!! When she shops online we see what colours to choose and all.

@Chirag How do you get that heart?!

I have used Skype also but Chirag she will have to download it. This came loaded in her laptop - so we just logged in with our same old hotmail ids. This was on Windows Live Messenger. She is lazy!!!

Her laptop is Dell, 3GB ram, and 200 or 250 GB HD. And Vista. It's red in colour :)

I remember my years in college, standing in line at telephone booths to call home. And waiting for 11 PM for the 1/4th rates to kick in. And how one eye would be on the meter to see how much longer one could afford to talk. Amazing how technology has changed life...yes indeed, I love technology. :-)

A BIG thanks to technology!! Technology has made our lives so easy. My mom, dad and I here in India see my 1.5 yr old nephew playing with my sister every single day. It is so much fun.

This is so cool - My sister-in-law lives in Lucknow and on weekends when I wake up here, she is wrapping up her day over there and we google talk for a long time (until my kids start screaming for breakfast - most times I tell them to go find a pop-tart or something, mommy is chatting with Bua)

But to walk around the house with web cam - what a great idea :)

how sweet. loved reading this. n red lappy must be sooo sexy :)

my sis is either plain lazy or really busy as she claims to be or she's not yet realized what fun it could be.
I however do this with my bro. Ask him to leave the webcam ON while he is preparing breakfast in UK and keep an eye on him form here :)

oh I keep in touch with most of my friends this way... God bless internet

Oh ya! I completely agree. What is with the sisters and hair and house and all that we think is soooooooo important to be shared?? :))) It is fascinating, isnt it? :) And I did the exact same thing with my parents and aunts and cousins. They wanted to see the dishwasher and I took the laptop and webcam around and gave them a demo on how it looks and works !! :D heheehee!! Likewise for the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom - the list is endless :))) But it feels so good that we dont have to "imagine" something anymore!

Yes this is the good part of technology and I love it too.. I get pictures and videos of my grand daughter through this technology thing.

However, all this is at a price. The world has become a global village, thanks to technology, BUT it has also made strangers out of neighbours..... Duality at work.

yes it is....
I do not know as to what I would have done without the internet and phone..... :)

EYYYYYYA! now doesn't that prove we boys are cleaner? But having a sister,I know otherwise..

Mom's can control their sons and make us clean our rooms..we don't want to get a ear full and just to do it save time..but girls tend to fight it out and won't listen..

Also mom's have a tendency to look at the guys room, the notion that guys are dirty... lol :P Guess all my comments here will be that of a 17 year old, pretty odd really...

Shoaib Daniyal said...

Nicely done, IHM. Couldn't agree with you more.

I, for one, couldn't imagine life without na mobile phone. Imagine only being able to talk to a person when she's at home!

Technology brings people together...If not for all the technical advancements, people like me staying in a foreign country can't even imagine doing it! There is computers, internet, email and everything else that helps me keep in touch with 'home'. I heart technology too :)

Reema said...

Oh technology is wonderful. My sister too went to France last Feb and since then I realised the importance of SKYPE and VOIP. We talk daily and that too free. :)

Technology, especially the internet, has changed life so dramatically over the past few years.

So much so that it is hard to imagine how people used to manage living without mobile phones and google.

Anonymous said...

I was smiling all the way while reading..I could feel how you felt then :)

Yup,technology is indeed very useful, provided we use it in the right way.now,'right' way is subjective..

Me and my mother talks over Yahoo messenger everyday. She talks to Fida for long, trying to understand the hoobli hooblu words she speaks..It would not have been possible if through phone..Now Fida has come in terms with her Grandmom and uncle(he is in 8th std) and they all feel good while talking lesuirely this way thru chat..Thanks to all techies :)

You write so good IHM :) ((hugs))

Yeah, isnt technology wonderful? You can cook a meal you never imagined you could, connect in wonderful ways. Shop for toys even though doctors have forbidden you from going to malls

I heart technology too

i am what i am said...

i swear by technology. i am on my way to delhi now and i'm blogging right now. it was just unimaginable to be like this a few years back. today i cant imagine my life without the laptop and data card connection. good post IHM. you always manage to bring up posts which are so close to reality and life. keep going.

It sure is! Thanks to technology, the world has shrunk to fit into lives.

So nice rejuvenation with sister, with visuals too. And also the chain of such meets and talks and watching will keep going on all along.
Cute and Enjoyable!

More than Technology, IHM< it is having sister to share and use it with that is more a blessing in this case. The world has shrank and the relationships have vanished.
You are blessed...
