Wipe your lipstick before you condemn a politician.

When you were crying hoarse, breaking inside, mourning the dead, questioning the government, demanding a change, worrying about the future your children .... HE WAS LOOKING AT YOUR LIPSTICK, JEANS AND WESTERN VALUES. These are the fools we allow to take decisions for us.

I am in a real rush, but have to leave this here, I saw this guy on NDTV24X7 just now.

BJP General Secretary Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi objects to women wearing jeans and lipstick, and to their following 'western values', when they light candles and criticize the politicians!

"Who is instigating these women groups to hold such protests? Why do some lipstick-cladded women, wearing jeans are protesting against the politicians on the streets of Mumbai', asked Naqvi. "There is a clear attempt to divide the country and break the trust of people in India's democratic fabrics. That's why such protests against politicians are taking place", he further added."

Edited to add: Read Reema's angry and informative response to Mr Nakli, err Mr Naqwi, here.

Yes this makes me so angry. what makes these lipstick-clad women are less partiotic than you? And why should you not say politicians murdabad? All they are doing now is point fingers at Pakistan and sit safely in their bulletproof ambassadors. This disgusts me. I shall blog about this, and also link yours!

I know, I just saw the guy on NDTV too.. Can't believe that out of everything that is happenning in the country, this was what he found to comment about..Thank goodness, he did not blame the terror attacks on the 'lipsticked' women :)

Oh he targeted tie and suit clad men too - so I guess we should start protesting in the nude. I am livid. How crass can a person get!!! And the CM's comments on Major Unnikrishnan's father? Unbelievable!

Jeez!! *spluttering in anger*

Whatta guy! And now one has to be properly attired [read ethnic clad] to show human principles???

It is the humanistic values, and humaneness that is at stake here.

So he can't take the heat? Out of the Kitchen, Mister!!!

OUT!!!

After this, he is still clueless?

Woah!!

Mr Naqvi was kind compared to the Kerala CM, Shri V. S. Achuthanandan. He went so far as to insult the family of a matyr, Major Sandeep Unnikrishanan's family, for refusing to accept to meet him, and receive his condolences, which, very obviously were, under duress.

A shameful day, another one.

All he can figure out of this is that the women are wearingjeans and lipstick!! Shame!!

I wish, the attack on parliament was successful ( in sanctioning some of our politicians a much needed break from life). Do not blame Naqbi. He has to run some extra miles, to prove his masters (read Sang Parivar), how much he cares for Indian values even though he himself does not know value, culture and history of India. But I am sure, someday, we would get rid of such stupid politicians without help of terrorists.

What Naqvi said was stupid . Period . I guess he was feeling left out , he had to let his tongue loose . But I must say I was shocked when Sar-kha Dutt announced the Candle-lighting campaign . What point did it prove ? Call me insensitive , but I bet the Paki masters of the terrorists must have had a laugh over it . I still cannot understand why . Please, anyone, enlighten me .

IHM, is there anything people like me(working in the US but still Indian) do about creating a better pool of leaders? I was thinking maybe an organization that spreads knowledge about the importance of voting to villages and remote areas? Any ideas will be welcome.

@ Kislay BARKHA Dutt and all the much maligned media people, including US, the bloggers, are helping us create a wave, join it and find a positive outlet for your anger.

Remember, Jessica Lal Murder case? It had started with candle lighting.
Forget right or left or p-sec or whatever - they are all the same, each is painstakingly exposing himself for what he truly is. You heard Kerala CM, Deshmukh, Patil and Modi. We pay them to serve us or RULE us?
What's your opinion about Rule 49-O? And are you a registered voter? Would really like to know what practical positive steps, do you think, we can take to be the change we want. situation.

Shilpa I will get back to you. But maybe the first step would be to blog about it.
We are going and meeting somebody who might guide us better ... meanwhile we will create awareness.

here comes anothr one..the ilk of stupid politicians in India is ever increasing...these guys shud be thrown outta the country with immediate effect

I agree with Kislay. Remembering the dead and praying for them is one thing, but these weird hour-long shows with no point to make with candles and all is again the kind of hogwash we can atleast NOW do away with. The mediapeople should now better be seen outside the PMO or the Intelligence Bureau headquarters than at the Taj anymore! Plus the immediate step that we as human beings need to take is to NOT FORGET. Already, life in offices is back to normal. Already, people are learning to shrug about it. Already, there seems to be this urgency to move on and drown ourselves in the corporate mayhem. That's the saddest. On Monday, barely a mile away from the two hotels, people were back and working in the same hopeless/maniacal/"resilient" way that spells doom for us.

The Soul of Alec Smart said...

Oh, and about Naqvi's comment, I should be seething and feeling enraged. But frothing over an idiotic and inane thing like that isn't going to get us anywhere. It shows his apathy to the larger situation at hand; I don't want to join him in this trivial dung-flinging. I just feel terribly saddened by the fact that this guy might hold a position of power in the country someday - and that is so unacceptable.

yeah, i had read that...was speechless with anger...

and i strongly believe we all can make a difference , however small it may be...

Today the news is full of those non sense remarks of politicians, be it muqtar abbas or achuthananthan or modi, every one is showing how cultureless they have become, i wish if those terrorists have killed these people instead of those innocent souls.

Does it matter said...

Yet another disgruntled, disgusting, sexist, chauvinistic pig from yet another out-of-sorts, me-too, divide-and-rule political party, egged on by another member of all-I-care-for-is-TRPs, dish-all-dirt, disgusting media.

And, the worst part is, this jerk will not even understand the criticism, he will probably wonder why anyone protests.

He and his party thoroughly deserve each other.

aShyCarnalKid said...

Jessica Lal's murder was different . There it made sense . When the problem is internal , these protests are the only sane way , I guess . Even then , I would not light a candle , but express my anger in a manner more befitting . But when a nation is attacked by terrorists ? Candle - lighting ?

I read about 49-O and visited jaagore , I am doing what I can .

Can we please stop interviewing the politicians about anything other than what are they doing to get the planners behind these attackers !!!

It seems anything else they say is sparking things left right and centre... Cannot believe these people have been elected...!!!!

Shocking and unbelievable this Naqvi... i hope he has no wife... how is he going to face her????

and the kerala chief minister... had he gone to share the grief of a father who lost his son or increase it???

Really shameful
